Dr. Vergidis is an Infectious Disease specialist with expertise in Medical Mycology and infections in the immunocompromised host. He trained in Infectious Diseases at Boston Medical Center and Transplant Infectious Diseases at Mayo Clinic. He was on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and the National Aspergillosis Center at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. Since returning to Mayo Clinic in 2019, Dr. Vergidis has held several leadership positions within the institution. He is currently the Focus Group Chair of the Hematology-Oncology Infectious Disease Service. He has published more than 70 articles in scientific journals. He is the site principal investigator of several clinical trials on novel antifungal medications.
